The cast and crew of College GameDay traveled down to Tuscaloosa, Alabama, this past weekend for the high-profile matchup between the Georgia Bulldogs and the Alabama Crimson Tide, and Mother Nature forced the program into an unusual location.

Instead of broadcasting from the iconic Denny Chimes, which is the usual go-to anytime GameDay makes the trip to Tuscaloosa, Hurricane Isaias forced a last-minute venue change to Coleman Coliseum across campus.

GameDay host Rece Davis joined the Pat McAfee show on Tuesday afternoon to discuss the unique atmosphere from last Saturday, and he praised the fans for creating an electric environment inside the arena.

“I was really worried about it, Pat,” Davis said. “I was worried they weren’t going to come… But man, did they show up. They gave us a great, loud enviroment, and I think that maybe they were excited that they didn’t have to stand out in the rain the whole time.”

There’s no denying that the atmosphere inside Coleman Colosseum was absolutely electric, and the fans who showed up despite the terrible weather outside deserve all the credit in the world.

It just goes to show how passionate people are about college football that they will brave an actual hurricane just to show up early on a Saturday morning to be a part of one of the sport’s greatest traditions.
