Paul Finebaum’s callers are a rare breed. There’s plenty that has been written about them and how they make “The Paul Finebaum Show” what it is today.

There was another example of that on Tuesday afternoon. That said, it wasn’t nearly as extreme as Harvey Updyke admitting that he had poisoned the trees at Toomer’s Corner.

When Vance from Georgia started off by saying, “This is an interesting call,” Finebaum — and his viewers and listeners — were no doubt bracing themselves for what was coming next. But they’d eventually learn that a tree had gone through the bedroom of Vance’s house “about ten minutes ago.”

“I’m a little bit in shock, I guess,” Vance said.

“So your first inclination was to wait to go on the Finebaum Show? Is that it?” Finebaum asked.

“I don’t know what else the hell to do,” Vance replied.

Fortunately, as Vance later stated, no one was hurt, including his dogs.

“I’m like, well, there’s nothing I can do right this second. That’s why I didn’t hang up the phone and panic,” he added.

It’s good to hear that Vance, and his dogs, are OK. Hopefully he’s able to get his house repaired quickly, though.
