Paul Finebaum calls Florida a ‘legitimate CFP team’ following blowout win over Ole Miss

The Florida Gators picked up the biggest win of the Jon Sumrall era this past weekend when they handed the previously No. 4-ranked Ole Miss Rebels a 52-28 loss in The Swamp.
Star running back Jaden Baugh and the rest of the Gators dominated the Rebels in all 3 phases of the game, putting the SEC and the rest of the college football world on notice in the process.

SEC Network analyst Paul Finebaum joined First Take on Monday morning to discuss Florida’s impressive Week 4 showing, saying that the Gators are now “legitimate” College Football Playoff contenders in his eyes.
“They’re back,” Finebaum said. “That is not in dispute anymore. They have a generational coach in Jon Sumrall. He preaches discipline, and that’s unusual in today’s college football… They are a legitimate College Football Playoff team.”
It’s hard to argue with Finebaum’s assessment of the Gators after what they did to an Ole Miss squad many consider to be among the National Championship favorites. They went into their biggest test of the season so far and aced the test with flying colors.
The road is only going to get harder from here for Sumrall, but if he can get his team to play at the level they did in Week 4 the rest of the way, then it’s hard to see a world in which they don’t make the CFP field come December.
