This weekend’s game between the Georgia Bulldogs and Alabama Crimson Tide will have serious College Football Playoff ramifications. While the loser is by no means eliminated, the winner has a huge leg up in the SEC Championship chase and the inside track for a CFP first-round bye.

Even with the already tremendous stakes, Paul Finebaum believes the contest is more critical for Georgia. He elaborated on why during Wednesday’s episode of Get Up.

“I think it’s bigger for Georgia because of what they have in front of them,” Finebaum said. “Alabama has really exceeded expectations so far, and their schedule has gotten easier… Georgia has a very difficult schedule.”

The Bulldogs face the Florida Gators, Ole Miss Rebels and Missouri Tigers — all top 16 teams — from Oct. 31 through Nov. 14. The Crimson Tide have road dates with the Tennessee Volunteers and LSU Tigers, neither of whom is a cakewalk, but both of which look less imposing now than they did earlier in the season. Finebaum thinks Kirby Smart‘s track record vs. Kalen DeBoer brings added important for Georgia, too.

“The idea of Kirby Smart losing three straight regular seasons to Kalen DeBoer is almost unthinkable when you think about Kirby Smart as being the premier coach,” Finebaum said.

The Bulldogs and Crimson Tide, barring any intervention due to tropical weather system Isaias’ development, will kick off at 7:30 p.m. E.T. on Saturday night (ABC).
