Paul Finebaum shreds Bill Belichick ahead of Week 0 game

Year 1 of the Bill Belichick era in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, was nothing short of an unmitigated disaster both in terms of the team’s on-field production and all of the off-the-field distractions that kept cropping up.
Now, Belichick is entering a pivotal second season as the head coach of the Tar Heels’ football program, and he’ll be kicking things off with a Week 0 showdown against the TCU Horned Frogs in Ireland.
Plenty of fans and analysts have been extremely critical of the NFL coaching legend over the past few months, and SEC Network mainstay Paul Finebaum added his name to that long list on Tuesday when he absolutely blasted the 6-time Super Bowl winner on First Take.
“He’s a grouch, he’s a bully, and his career in college football is about to go down in flames,” Finebaum said. “…It is mass chaos in Chapel Hill, and I don’t believe that they’ll win this game in Ireland, and I don’t think that Bill Belechick is going to survive until the end of the season.”
Finebaum certainly didn’t hold back on Belechick in this segment, but he echoes many of the sentiments that plenty of other people around the sport have also talked about in recent months.
North Carolina has a pretty difficult ACC schedule staring them down in 2026, and if Belechick doesn’t make some drastic changes from his first go around then Finebaum’s prediction could end up becoming reality sooner rather than later.
