Pete Golding excited after beating LSU, but notes ‘it wasn’t our Super Bowl’

Oxford was rocking on Saturday night for a Week 3 clash between the Ole Miss Rebels and the LSU Tigers.
In addition to being a top-10 showdown with major Playoff implications, it was also (obviously) the return of Lane Kiffin. And in front of a raucous crowd, Ole Miss and new head coach Pete Golding sent the Tigers home with a 32-24 loss.
After the game, Golding was excited, but made sure to note that there are bigger goals to reach for him and his squad (via ESPN):
I told our team, ‘I don’t think anybody came here to beat LSU,'” Golding said. “That’s not what our goal was coming in. Yes, is it sweet? Absolutely. Go enjoy tonight. But we’ve got to come back to work. … It wasn’t our Super Bowl, and we didn’t make it out to be our Super Bowl.
Ole Miss doesn’t have a ton of time to regroup, as the Rebels have to head to the Swamp next weekend to take on a Florida Gators squad that looks resurgent under new coach Jon Sumrall.
But this was a huge step toward the Playoff for Golding and the Rebels, and we’re sure Oxford will continue to party on Sunday.
