Pete Golding says Ole Miss defense had a ‘lack of courage’ against Jadan Baugh, Florida

Coach Pete Golding and Ole Miss went to Florida looking to build off the win last week against LSU. However, that wasn’t the case, as the Rebels were dismantled to a tune of 52-28 by the Gators.
Leading the way for the Gators was running back Jadan Baugh, who finished the game with 142 yards and 3 touchdowns. He is widely regarded as one of the best running backs in the country. However, backup running back Duke Clark finished with another 126 yards and another score.
Golding made his way as a defensive guy before becoming a head coach, and he challenged his defense’s courage after the game.
“We had a bunch of guys ankle biting… There was a lack of courage at times,” Golding said. “That’s an elite back, and you’re going to have to go chest to chest with him at some point, whether you like it or not.”
No matter what kind of defense you play, Baugh is going to be able to get yards. He is that good of a player. However, for Golding to say his team lacked courage is as big a statement as a coach could make to his team.
The Rebels are off next week, and will have plenty of time to refocus after this loss before traveling to Vanderbilt in Week 6.
