Peter Burns and Chris Doering both went to their draft boards during Friday’s edition of SEC This Morning, but this particular draft was centered around one position.
The quarterback position, which already boasts a lot of stellar performances within the SEC as we get ready for Week 6. The co-hosts of the SEC Network show were basing their selections on the first 5 weeks of the season, and so a lot can change between now and when the regular season ends at the end of November. But from what they’ve seen during the first month of the 2025 season, Burns and Doering each selected their top 5 signal-callers in the SEC.
For Burns, he was going with Alabama‘s Ty Simpson at No. 1, and the first thing that Burns mentioned was the leadership that Simpson possessed the past few weeks and especially during the first half of last Saturday’s victory at Georgia.
“His ceiling is off the charts,” said Burns about Simpson, who leads an Alabama offense that has yet to turn the ball over in 2025.
For Doering, well, the former star quarterback at Florida was going a different route. He was going with a guy that nobody even saw coming this fall, Ole Miss‘s Trinidad Chambliss, who has taken over the Rebels offense with a flourish and led Ole Miss to a No. 4 ranking in the AP Poll.
