Peter Burns of the SEC Network is excited about Week 1 like many other SEC fans. His excitement goes around the SEC, and he listed out the top 5 reasons he’s looking forward to the first weekend of SEC football this season.
5. Zeb Noland’s debut as the starting QB at South Carolina. Of course, Noland has the rare story of going from being a graduate assistant to the starting QB. He came to South Carolina after playing at North Dakota State and Iowa State.
4. Kentucky’s new-look offense. Liam Coen came to Kentucky from the Los Angeles Rams, and brings some NFL flavor with Will Levis at the helm and Nebraska transfer Wan’Dale Robinson returning to his home state.
3. Bill O’Brien’s playing calling with Bryce Young. Speaking of offensive coordinators, one of the more high profile OCs in the SEC is the new signal caller at Alabama. Young also is in an intriguing position as a first-year starter when the Tide open with Miami.
2. Jimbo Fisher and Haynes King. Another team with a new quarterback is Texas A&M, and the Aggies are anxious to see how the dual threat King takes over for Kellen Mond, who left for the NFL.
1. LSU’s mindset in the Rose Bowl. Burns said it’s not just how last season ended, but can they keep momentum going despite having to relocate to Houston.
