PJ Fleck praises Kamario Taylor: ‘He’ll be one of the best QBs we’ve ever played’

The Mississippi State Bulldogs are set to travel to Minneapolis to face off against PJ Fleck’s Minnesota Golden Gophers in Week 2. Led by standout dual-threat QB Kamario Taylor, the Bulldogs are looking to improve to 2-0 against a middle-of-the-pack Big Ten squad.
Taylor is a machine, to say the least. He accounted for 5 touchdowns during MSU’s 63-13 win over UL Monroe, totaling 354 passing yards and 59 rushing yards on 6 carries. At 6-foot-4, 230 pounds, Taylor is hard to bring down, has a cannon for an arm and appears to have progressed as a passer from 2025 to 2026.
On Monday, Fleck had a few things to say about Taylor while evaluating him ahead of Week 2. Here’s what he had to say:
“If you look at the difference from him last year to this year, you can see it in every area.” Fleck said. “Whether it is running the football, whether it’s decision-making, whether it’s going through his progressions, whether it’s accuracy, throwing every single type of ball… he’s very, very talented. He’ll be one of the best QBs we’ve ever played since I’ve been here.”
That’s some high praise.
While Taylor was fantastic against UL Monroe, it’ll be interesting to see how he fares against solid Big Ten competition on Saturday. Week 2’s matchup between the Golden Gophers and Bulldogs is set to kick off at 3:30 p.m. on CBS.
