Heading into the 2020 season, there’s a lot of buzz surrounding No. 1 overall pick Joe Burrow, the reigning Heisman Trophy winner from LSU.

The new starting quarterback for the Cincinnati Bengals will be expected to be the face of the franchise from Day 1, so we’ll see if he can live up to the pressure.

The hype train is speeding out of control already, adding to that pressure. As you can see below, one Pro Football Focus analyst compared Burrow’s skill set to Super Bowl champion Patrick Mahomes:

“Mahomes takes an inordinate amount of hits, (but) does not take sacks,” PFF analyst George Chahrouri said. “He does not. He’s top 5 in the NFL in the past 2 seasons in sack rate. He doesn’t take them. He gets rid of the ball. … Do the Bengals give Burrow the options he had at LSU to be able to make some of those plays? I think if they’re open, that guy’s going to find them. Dude is insanely accurate.”

That’s a lofty comparison for a rookie who hasn’t played an NFL snap yet. We’ll see how he fares in his first action this weekend!
