Purdue WR Charlie Jones, FBS leader in receptions and yards, makes decision on Citrus Bowl vs. LSU

Purdue WR Charlie Jones had an incredible year for the Boilermakers as he helped lead his team to a Big Ten West title and a spot in the B1G Championship Game.
Jones led all FBS receivers with 110 catches and also led the way with 1,361 yards. He finished the 13-game season with 12 touchdown catches, tied for fourth in the FBS ranks.
With the Boilermakers set to play LSU in the Citrus Bowl, though, it appears Jones won’t be adding to those numbers.
Per ESPN’s Adam Rittenberg, Jones is opting out of the bowl and will begin preparing for the 2023 NFL Draft:
The following #Purdue players are opting out of the Citrus Bowl against #LSU: QB Aidan O’Connell (as @PeteThamel reported earlier), TE Payne Durham, WR Charlie Jones and CB Cory Trice.

That’s good news for LSU coach Brian Kelly, DC Matt House and the entire Tigers’ defense. Now they won’t have to prepare for QB Aidan O’Connell or his top target, Jones. TE Payne Durham and CB Cory Trice also won’t play in the bowl.
The Citrus Bowl is scheduled to kick off at 1 p.m. Eastern time on Monday, Jan. 2, and can be seen on ABC.
