For every Badgers, Utes, Minutemen, Volunteers and Boilermakers mascot in college football, there’s a nickname that is much more common. Specifically, there are 3 mascots that stand out above the rest. The Bulldogs, the Tigers and the Wildcats.
In total, there are 13 FBS programs that have those 3 mascot names, spread over a total of 12 states. From coast to coast, more than a fifth of all U.S. states have college football teams in the FBS that feature those mascots.
