Ramel Keyton wants the world to know that 8-4 is no longer an acceptable record for the Tennessee Volunteers.

“We’ve raised the expectations for this program,” Keyton explained following Saturday’s win. “Winning eight games is good enough for a lot of programs. Not for us. Not for Tennessee. We’ve played hard but we didn’t expect to be [8-4]. It’s not what we wanted.”

The Vols had a solid season, but losses to Florida, Missouri, Alabama, and Georgia ultimately doomed any greater expectations the team may have had. The 2022 team finished with 11 wins and won in the Orange Bowl against Clemson, leading some to believe the Vols were in for another 10-win year in 2023.

This year’s team won’t be in a New Years 6 bowl, but the seniors will get the chance to play one more game still.

Keyton ended his final season of eligibility with 32 catches for 591 yards and 6 TDs. Keyton’s 6 scores led all receivers on the team. The receiver has exhausted his eligibility, so the bowl game will be his final time sporting the Tennessee orange.
