With Ole Miss falling to Georgia early Saturday afternoon, the Texas A&M Aggies are now the sole undefeated SEC program remaining. The Aggies outlasted a top-notch offensive effort from Arkansas, 45-42, to improve to 7-0 for the first time since 1994.

With the win, Texas A&M extended its winning streak to 4 in the all-time series vs. Arkansas.

And Marcel Reed was the Player of the Afternoon for the Aggies. The Texas A&M quarterback threw for 3 touchdowns while completing 23 of his 32 passing attempts for 280 yards. Reed was also effective on the ground, rushing for 1 touchdown and 55 yards.

Reed’s abilities on the ground added to a dominant rushing effort for the Aggies offense against an outright bad Arkansas defense. Reuben Owens led the way with 69 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and the team as a whole was good or 6.2 yards per carry for 217 yards and 3 touchdowns. Not too shabby.

Arkansas being Arkansas and Bobby Petrino being Bobby Petrino, Texas A&M had to sweat this one out a bit. The Razorbacks scored a touchdown with under 4 minutes remaining to bring the game within one possession, but couldn’t get a stop on defense as the Aggies simply ran out the clock.

The Aggies are back in action next week and will travel to Baton Rouge to face an LSU team that just fell to Vanderbilt.
