San Diego State got all it could out of star RB Rashaad Penny, but it was not enough as the Aztecs fell just short in the Armed Forces Bowl.
Penny put SDSU up late in the game with his fourth rushing score of the afternoon. Unfortunately, Army came back down the field and took the lead with a touchdown and two-point conversion with 18 seconds left. The Black Knights would win the game, ending Penny’s SDSU career with a tough loss despite a massive outing.
Penny, who led the nation in rushing this season, was virtually the entire Aztecs offense on the afternoon. He accounted for 221 of the 280 total yard of offense for SDSU and scored four of the five touchdowns in the bowl game.
Not only was it an impressive outing, but it was Penny’s fifth straight game of at least 200 yards rushing. That is an incredible run to cap off his career, and ESPN College Football indicated that his string of games ties the FBS record:

In that five game stretch, Penny has rushed for 1,133 yards and 13 TDs. He also added a kick return and punt return touchdown in that stretch.
At 5-foot-11 and 220 pounds, Penny is a fast and powerful runner that should get a look in the NFL after a strong college career.
