Football is a rough sport, and it’s not always limited to the players geared up in pads and helmets. On a Mississippi State pass attempt, the back judge Kenny Long, took an ugly hit in the game against Southern Miss.

As two Mississippi State players converged on the ball thrown by Mississippi State quarterback Dak Prescott, the referee attempted to maintain position on the play. As you can see in the video, one player completely ran over the referee from behind, leaving the referee pretty banged up. A knee into the lower back and a face scuffed up by the turf were not enough to keep the referee from staying in the game. It’s worth noting that the players involved in the collision missed the next play, but the ref did not. Kudos.
