The ACC is in an interesting position going into the 2020 football season. The league has already expressed interest in a conference-only schedule and has said it will allow Notre Dame to have as many ACC games as it needs.
However, as we flip our calendars over to August this weekend, a decision is not likely to come before next Tuesday, Aug. 4.
Per Stadium’s Brett McMurphy, the ACC presidents likely won’t make a schedule decision on Wednesday, opting instead to wait until after the NCAA Board of Governors meeting on Aug. 4:
ACC presidents not expected to make a decision Wednesday on league scheduling format & may wait another week as officials still discussing various scheduling options, sources told @Stadium. Also may wait for next NCAA Board of Governors meeting Aug. 4, source said

We should have a clearer picture of what the current pandemic situation looks like next week, but that is probably when decisions will have to start being made.
Aug. 4 marks 1 month until the Week 1 start date of Saturday, Sept. 4, and players will need time to prepare.
