Report: Auburn denies appeal for former DL Antwuan Jackson to transfer to another SEC school

Former Auburn defensive lineman Antwuan Jackson saw his transfer appeal denied by Auburn Friday, according to The State.
Jackson is the half-brother of South Carolina linebacker Bryson Allen-Williams, and the former Tigers’ lineman is blocked from transferring to another SEC school, Ohio State, Clemson, Mercer and Georgia Southern.
Jackson’s mother, Darnisha Allen-Jackson, updated his status, and she said he should know within the next month where he’ll be heading for 2017.
“He’s vetting some JUCOs he might attend in Mississippi,” said Allen-Jackson. “He is weighing all options. He’s not sure if he wants to sit out a year. He redshirted last year and he misses playing the game. So, he’s weighing all of his options. He should know something by the first week of July.”
Should Jackson head to JUCO, he could return to another SEC school in 2018.
“Not at all,” Allen-Jackson said if Auburn gave them a reason for blocking his transfer. “It seems very petty because Antwuan requested his transfer. Seems like the one year of punishment should be enough.”
In a report published by the school on May 18, Auburn announced that Jackson — and Marlon Character Jr. — were no longer a part of the program.
“They’ve decided to move on,” Malzahn said in a statement. “We wish them nothing but the best.”
Jackson is a former 4-star prospect, ranked among the top 10 defensive tackles and rated as the No. 49 overall prospect for the class of 2016, according to 247Sports Composite Rankings. He’s also a former U.S. Army All-American.
