Report: Cleveland Browns botched chance to trade for former Alabama QB AJ McCarron

The Cleveland Browns are currently 0-8 and once again look like one of the worst teams in the NFL.
As always, the problems start at quarterback, where the Browns haven’t had a solid starter since returning to Cleveland in 1999.
Just before Tuesday’s trade deadline, the Browns had a deal in place to trade for Cincinnati Bengals backup QB AJ McCarron, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
But, Schefter’s tweet continues, the Browns managed to mess up the trade, failing to call it in to the league office:
Bengals and Browns actually agreed to AJ McCarron trade at 3:55 pm, per source involved. Bengals approved trade to NFL, Browns did not.

Was it an intentional move by the Browns? Did they get cold feet? It’s certainly is possible, but with the way the Browns have been run over the past several years, they don’t get the benefit of the doubt in this situation.
So, for now, McCarron — a former Alabama star — is stuck backing up Andy Dalton in Cincinnati.
Whether he ever gets a chance to start for a team remains to be seen, but the Browns missed out on that chance on Tuesday afternoon.
