Report: Detroit Lions hire former South Carolina QB Dylan Thompson as character coach

The Detroit Lions recently hired former New England Patriots DC Matt Patricia as their head coach, and it seems he’s bringing a similar style to his new job.
To accomplish that, he’s hired former South Carolina QB Dylan Thompson as the team’s “Character Coach/Team Development,” per an ESPN report.
The report states that the Patriots have a similar position, describing what Thompson’s responsibilities could be:
Dylan Thompson appeared on the team’s website Wednesday under the title of “Character Coach/Team Development” — a position the Patriots also have in their building, filled by Jack Easterby. Easterby is the founder and chairman of the board of The Greatest Champion, an organization that works to build character and help shape influential people for the future, according to the organization’s website.
Trying to emulate the Patriots isn’t the worst move, as they have won five Super Bowl titles since Bill Belichick took over as coach with Tom Brady at quarterback.
However, the Lions have a long way to go to be mentioned in the same sentence as New England.
