Report: Georgia practice gives good indication on status of DT Trent Thompson

Georgia’s front seven is in for a very difficult task this weekend — as the Bulldogs get set to host a hot Auburn Tigers team.

Auburn ranks among the best in the conference in virtually every rushing category. The two-headed attack of Kamryn Pettway and Kerryon Johnson is supremely productive — already combining for over 1,700 yards on the ground this season.

Georgia’s defensive line will not only have to play with terrific gap integrity, but it will need to be disciplined against this unconventional and somewhat funky Gus Malzahn offense.

The Bulldogs suffered a scare during last week’s win over Kentucky — as stud sophomore defensive tackle Trent Thompson left with an apparent hip injury.

With Auburn coming to down, the ‘Dawgs can ill-afford an injury up front — especially to a player of Thompson’s ilk.

According to a report from Dawg Nation, it appears as if Thompson will be ready to go for this weekend’s game:

“Sophomore Trent Thompson, the team’s leader in tackles-for-loss, was at practice in a regular jersey Monday, indicating no restrictions on contact.”

On the year, Thompson has accrued 35 tackles, 5.0 tackles-for-loss, and 2.0 sacks.
