Report: Leonard Fournette agrees to 1-year contract with Super Bowl contender
By Adam Spencer
Published:
Former LSU star RB Leonard Fournette was released by the Jacksonville Jaguars earlier this week and cleared waivers without being claimed by any of the 31 other teams.
On Wednesday, it was rumored that the New England Patriots were interested in his services, but instead, it appears he’ll team up with a former Patriots legend.
Per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Fournette has an agreement in place for a 1-year contract with Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers:
It’s an agreement in principle on a one-year deal between Leonard Fournette and the Buccaneers, per source. https://t.co/c8zfr1VFFv

Fournette will likely split carries with Ronald Jones II and LeSean McCoy in the Tampa Bay backfield if the deal is indeed finalized.
The former No. 4 overall pick ran for 1,152 yards and 3 touchdowns in 2019. He also added an impressive 76 catches for 522 yards. We’ll see what role he winds up with in Tampa Bay.
