Louisville’s front sevenย will have to try and slowย LSU’s vaunted rushing attack — led by Derrius Guice — in the Dec. 31 Citrus Bowl.

Unfortunately for Bobby Petrino’s team, it will be without the services of two integral members of the defense.

According to a report from the Courier-Journal, linebackers James Hearns andย Henry Famurewa will not play in the contest. Both were shot in an off-campus incidentย a little more than two weeks ago. Hearns was shot in the elbow, and Famurewa suffered injuries to both the leg and foot.

The loss of Hearns is particularly distressing. Functioning as a hybrid defensive end/outside linebacker, Hearns leads the team in sacks (8.0) and tackles-for-loss (11.0). He hasย also accrued five forced fumbles and 43 overall tackles on the season.
