LSU’s defensive line/outside linebacker depth took a hit Thursday morning.
Isaiah Washington is no longer a part of the team. The redshirt sophomore missed the last portion of the Tigers’ spring practice due to academic concerns. He played in just six games for the Tigers, making three tackles and forcing one fumble, and missed last season due to a ruptured ACL suffered during preseason camp.
The New Orleans native is a former 3-star prospect in the 2015 recruiting cycle and racked up 55 tackles, 15.5 tackles for loss, seven sacks, and two forced fumbles during his senior campaign at Edna Karr.
Standout edge rusher Arden Key will already miss the beginning of fall camp, and now, Washington is no longer with the program. Washington makes the second defensive lineman to leave the team this off-season. Former defensive tackle Travonte Valentine was dismissed in January. And although Washington wasn’t figured to be a major factor, losing edge rushers in the SEC is usually never a good thing.
