This offseason, Kentucky’s 2020 starting quarterback, Terry Wilson, entered the NCAA transfer portal, ending up at New Mexico.
This summer, he’s been battling for the starting job with Danny Gonzales’s Lobo squad.
On Tuesday evening, Yahoo’s Pete Thamel reported that coaches have seen enough and Wilson has been named the Lobos’ starting quarterback:
Sources: New Mexico coaches are naming Kentucky transfer Terry Wilson the school’s starting quarterback. He won over the coaching staff with his leadership and experience. Wilson went 17-8 as Kentucky’s starter.

In 2020, Wilson completed 125 of his 200 pass attempts for 1,187 yards, 7 touchdowns and 4 interceptions. He added 424 yards and 5 touchdowns as a runner.
How will he fare in the Mountain West? New Mexico opens the season on Thursday, Sept. 2, against Houston Baptist. The Lobos will head to College Station to take on Texas A&M on Saturday, Sept. 18.
