One of the bigger stories outside of the NFL Draft in recent days was the report that Florida legend Tim Tebow may be reunited with his former coach Urban Meyer.
At a press conference on Saturday, the new Jacksonville Jaguars coach offered some insight into the conversations and relationship they had.
โTim and Iโve talked about, when he was a quarterback in the NFL that was a big topic,โ Meyer told reporters regarding the possibility that Tebow would play tight end. โI was so busy, I didnโt give him the time. โWhat do you think? What do you think?โ and I didnโt know, I was too busy to even think it through. I know playing a position in the National Football League without โ thatโs a long shot, this is years ago. How did it happen this time? We had a conversation. He worked out with our tight ends coach, I stopped by, did not stay for the whole workout. Then our focus went to the NFL draft. Weโre going to revisit here in the near future. Thatโs how that all happened.โ
Of course, all this stems from the fact that the Jaguars are thin at tight end, and even though they drafted Luke Farrell out of Ohio State in the fifth round, there’s still work to do at that position.
โConcerned,โ Meyer said. โThereโs some great quality, quantity wasnโt there in the draft this year, and thatโs a concern right now. Thatโs a concern right now. . . . We just didnโt hit that today.โ
