Robert Griffin III names 2 SEC stars among top 5 Heisman frontrunners

The Heisman Trophy race is already a third of the way through now that Week 4 is in the books. Robert Griffin III recently dropped his top 5 list and there’s a pair of SEC standouts on it.
The former Heisman Trophy winner has Mississippi State quarterback Kamario Taylor at the top, followed by Ohio State wide receiver Jeremiah Smith, Florida running back Jadan Baugh, Miami quarterback Darian Mensah, and Duke running back Nate Sheppard.
Taylor has a big chance to add to his resume as No.16 Mississippi State takes on host No. 7 Alabama this weekend (12 p.m. ET/ABC). The Bulldogs haven’t beaten the Crimson Tide in Tuscaloosa since a 24-16 win on Nov. 4, 2006.
The 6-foot-4, 230-pound sophomore has sparked the Bulldogs to a 4-0 start with his stellar play. Taylor has 1,192 yards, 14 touchdowns and only 2 interceptions while also averaging 5.0 yards on the ground.
Baugh has followed up a strong season in 2025 with an excellent start. The 6-foot-1, 225-pound junior has rushed for 600 yards, 7.2 yards per carry and leads the nation with 11 rushing touchdowns. Baugh rushed for 142 yards and 3 touchdowns last weekend in Florida’s 52-28 rout vs. then-No. 4 Ole Miss.
Next up for No. 8 Florida is a road matchup at No. 25 Missouri (3:30 p.m./ABC).
