Robert Griffin III knows exactly what a Heisman Trophy winning quarterback looks like, having won the award himself at Baylor in 2011. Like the rest of college football fans across the country, he was watching the instant classic between Georgia and Tennessee.

After watching Stockton lead his team from a deficit late in the game, Griffin says Stockon has to be in the conversation for to win the Heisman this year.

Stockton had looked good to start the year, but this was a different level of challenge. This was his first road start in SEC play, and there are few stadiums that are tougher to win at than Neyland Stadium.

He delivered in big fashion, finishing the game with 304 passing yards and two touchdowns, while also rushing for another 38 yards and a score. When somebody wins the Heisman Trophy, they generally have a couple moments a year where they stand out and show why. Late in the fourth quarter was just that moment.

Stockton got the ball back in the fourth quarter with 6:40 left in the game. He responded by leading the team on an nine-play and 75-yard drive, connecting with London Humphreys on a 28-yard touchdown on a 4th and six play to cut the deficit to 38-36.

He found Zachariah Branch on the ensuing 2-point conversion to tie the game with just over two minutes remaining.

Stockton delivered in a huge way, showing poise throughout a game where there were five lead changes in the second half. While the Bulldogs are off next weekend, he will have another game to potentially help his Heisman resume when they host the Alabama Crimson Tide in two weeks.

As of Saturday evening, Stockton is +1500 according to the latest Heisman Trophy betting odds at BetMGM.
