The Broncos defeated the Seahawks 17-14 in overtime to move to 4-2 on Thursday Night Football this week.
Despite the win, Bo Nix had a subpar game, going 17-of-27 for 107 yards. There have been many critics of Nix’s play this year, but Amazon’s Ryan Fitzpatrick went on an epic rant for what he sees as a lack of competitiveness.
โBo Nix is not playing competitively,” Fitzpatrick said. “Itโs almost disrespectful to the quarterback position how heโs playing football.โ The guy doesn’t want to throw the ball. He has no trust from his coach. He’s not playing competitive football.”
Last season, Nix helped lead the Broncos to the AFC Championship, but he suffered an injury late in the game before that and ended up missing the game. In six games this season, Nix has thrown for 1,049 yards, 6 touchdowns and 3 interceptions. In four games this year, he has thrown for 186 yards or less. The 107 yards he threw for last night was the second fewest of his career, as he threw for 60 in a game against the Jets in his rookie season.
Denver was looked at as a legitimate contender to win the Super Bowl. The Broncos have one of the best defenses in the league, their losses are to the San Francisco 49ers and Kansas City Chiefs, two of the three undefeated teams remaining in the NFL.
For now, Nix is the guy in Denver, but this is definitely becoming a big story in the NFL.
