Big time players make big time plays in big time moments. Ryan Williams did just that for the Alabama Crimson Tide in their thrilling 41-34 victory over the Georgia Bulldogs last year. And afterward, he received a big-time phone call.

During his appearance on the I Am Athlete podcast, Williams revealed he spoke with President Donald Trump following Alabama’s win. The conversation was a “short talk” on FaceTime, but one Williams will seemingly remember forever.

Here’s a clip from the podcast where Williams talks about his phone call with President Trump:

Williams, who was just 17 years old, dominated the Bulldogs in primetime. He recorded six receptions, 177 yards and a touchdown in the game. As you may remember, his 75-yard scoring play provided the game-winning points.

Williams finished his freshman season with 48 receptions, 865 yards and 8 touchdowns. His 18.0 yards per reception average ranked fourth in the SEC among players with at least 40 catches. He was a walking explosive play alongside Jalen Milroe, and hopes to be the same for Ty Simpson.

For Alabama to return to the College Football Playoff, he’ll need to be. We’ll see how big of a step forward he has taken when the Crimson Tide battles the Florida State Seminoles at 3:30 p.m. E.T. on Aug. 30.
