Sahvir Wheeler’s early exit from Kentucky’s Sunday preseason game had Big Blue Nation concerned.

The UK point guard had to be helped to the locker room in the second half against Missouri Western State. He was quickly ruled out for the remainder of the contest.

After the game, Wildcats head coach John Calipari told reporters that Wheeler aggravated a knee injury from earlier this month. Calipari expressed optimism that Wheeler will be okay after missing a few days.

Last season, Wheeler was second-team All-SEC. He ranked No. 3 nationally averaging 6.9 assists per game.

Kentucky’s next exhibition game is scheduled for Thursday against Kentucky State. The regular-season tips off Nov. 7 when UK hosts Howard.
