Arkansas is one of the teams facing shrinking available players ahead of its game this week, which happens to be the Battle for the Golden Boot against LSU.

“No I don’t feel good about COVID,” Pittman said at a press conference on Thursday afternoon, per Pig Trail Nation. “I think everybody is looking for an answer. We are going to play Saturday as of now. We have a test that we took today that gets back tomorrow. I am going to tell you the truth we are running thin.”

Each SEC team must have a minimum of 53 scholarship players, including a quarterback, seven offensive linemen and four defensive linemen.

“As of right now, weโ€™re going to play Saturday,” Pittman added, per Scottie Bordelon. “Weโ€™re running thin. We want to play the game. But you have to have adequate numbers to play. If we have a good test tomorrow, by golly, weโ€™re going to play the game.”

Pittman understands the importance of this rivalry game, if nothing else than recruiting. But it’s more than that.

“The Boot, LSU game is a big deal for Arkansas,” Pittman said. “It’s a big deal. We have approached it that way. This has a little extra juice to it. We would love to have the Boot stay here. We know we have a big challenge. We are excited to play on Saturday.”
