Scott Van Pelt had a lot of top Week 8 college football matchups to delve through on Thursday night during his “Winners” pick segment, and 1 of those showdowns is an SEC tilt in Lexington between 2 programs going in opposite directions right now.

On Saturday night in a 7 p.m. ET kickoff on ESPN, No. 21 Texas will head to Kentucky to play a Wildcats team that’s sitting at the bottom of the SEC. Mark Stoops‘ struggling team is 0-3 in conference play, and it’s taken it on the chin in its past 2 games on the road, getting blown out at South Carolina and Georgia. After a bye week, Kentucky will finally be back home against a Texas team that showed life last week in a monster win over Oklahoma after falling out of the AP rankings.

Now, the Longhorns are ranked again and looking to get on a roll to make that preseason No. 1 ranking not look like such a misread. Van Pelt knows all this, and he believes that Stoops’ team might just make Steve Sarkisian‘s squad sweat more than a little under the primetime lights in Lexington.

“Last-place Kentucky, off back-to-back three-touchdown losses, give me the double digits against Texas,” said, or rather, screamed Van Pelt in his passionate pick segment, taking the underdog Wildcats with the 12.5 points they are getting on Saturday night.
