Week 8 of the SEC regular season will feature a meeting between No. 19 Oklahoma Sooners and the South Carolina Gamecocks, both of which will be looking to get back into the win column following devastating losses last weekend.
It will be just the second time ever that these 2 programs have met on the gridiron, with the first meeting coming last season over in Norman, where the Gamecocks rolled past the Sooners 35-9.
Now, they will be meeting up for a 12:45 kickoff in Columbia on Saturday with the Sooners as 5.5-point favorites, per the latest college football odds. ESPN analyst and SportsCenter host Scott Van Pelt touched on the matchup during his weekly ‘Winners’ segment on Thursday night, and gave his pick against the spread in this SEC clash.
“South Carolina at home, I wish it was at night with Sandstorm raging and towels waving, but South Cackalacky plus the points in the one,” Van Pelt said during the segment.
Williams-Brice Stadium is one of the toughest places to play, no matter what time of the day it is, and South Carolina head coach Shane Beamer is sure to have his guys riled up as they look to avoid dropping to 3-4 on the year.
The Gamecocks have also fared much better at home this year as opposed to on the road, and this will also be just the second true road game for the Sooners in 2025, all of which plays into the favor of South Carolina.
