Scott Van Pelt questions Arkansas fans for not showing up to Ryan Silverfield’s first SEC game

Arkansas fans aren’t buying what Ryan Silverfield is selling just yet.
Despite the Razorbacks opening their SEC slate against Georgia in Week 3, the Razorback Stadium stands had a number of empty seats just minutes before kickoff. Many fans were disappointed by the initial hire in the offseason, wishing that the program had pushed for a bigger name than the former Memphis head coach.
After a 45-17 loss to the Bulldogs, those feelings of discontent won’t go away for Razorbacks fans. Scott Van Pelt, though, is calling for some patience.
“I’m asking sincerely, Arkansas folks: two weeks into Silverfield’s tenure…you’re out?” Van Pelt said on a post on X on Saturday afternoon. “I get it, it’s hot as hell, Utah smashed you and Georgia is as well. Just curious what you want to be done.”
It’s difficult to imagine Arkansas parting ways with Silverfield after one season. That’s not necessarily to say he’ll see out all five years of the $33.5 million contract he signed to be its head coach.
After a second straight blowout loss, though, Hogs fans are wondering when they’ll see the light at the end of the tunnel as their SEC losing streak has reached 12 games.
Arkansas takes on Tulsa in Week 4 to close out non-conference play. It will then face back-to-back ranked opponents in Texas A&M and Tennessee.
