SEC addresses potential tropical weather in Tuscaloosa impacting Georgia-Alabama showdown

All eyes in the college football world this week are on Alabama as the No. 6 Crimson Tide get ready to host No. 2 Georgia. Meteorologists also have their eyes on the Yellowhammer State for different reasons.
The 2026 Atlantic hurricane season has been remarkably quiet so far, with 0 hurricanes and only 8 named storms. For college football fans, however, there’s a situation to watch regarding this week’s top-10 showdown in Tuscaloosa.

A current Gulf system could be bringing tropical weather to the Tuscaloosa area based on current projections.
Heading into the closet and bringing the tropical storm gear to Tuscaloosa this weekend. If this track stays the course, it could be a very soaked day at Alabama, and decisions might have to be made. Georgia, Alabama and SEC are monitoring.

FOX’s Trey Wallace inquired with the SEC office about the potential weather situation in Tuscaloosa for Saturday’s game. The conference is keeping an eye on forecasts.

Alabama vs. Georgia is currently set for 7:30 p.m. ET, airing on ABC. ESPN’s College GameDay is also scheduled to originate from Tuscaloosa on Saturday at 9 a.m. ET.
