The SEC Championship game is more than just a football matchup. It’s an opportunity for the conference to honor former legends.
On Thursday, the SEC revealed its 2026 Football Legends Class. The group includes a player or coach for all 16 member institutions.
“This year’s class includes Heisman Trophy winners, national champions, All-Americans, All-SEC selections and NFL standouts,” the conference wrote in a press release. “The group represents teams that won SEC Championships, claimed Super Bowl titles and are represented in state, school and college football halls of fame.”

- Florida – WR Chris Doering (1991-95)

- LSU – CB Patrick Peterson (2008-10)

This year’s SEC Championship game will take place in Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Saturday, Dec. 5.
