With the presidential election drawing near, we couldn’t help but start thinking about which SEC players and coaches have the qualities we want in a leader.

There were arguments for and against a lot of big names, but we finally narrowed down the list.

Alabama Head Coach Nick Saban

VP: Alabama Offensive Coordinator Lane Kiffin

Was there ever a doubt that Nick Saban would top this list? Let’s take a look at the past few weeks in the life the Tide head coach:

  • February 20 – He’s charitable. Coach and future First Lady donated $100,000 to Habitat for Humanity.
  • February 24 – He’s a winner. I mean, do you really need more evidence of this?
  • February 29 – He’s got backing. Donald Trump endorsed Saban.
  • March 2 – He’s powerful. On a visit to the White House, Tide RB Kenyan Drake gushed about standing next to the “most powerful man in the country.” Spoiler alert: Drake was not referring to our current president.
  • March 7 – He’s popular. Saban finished in the Top 4 for all seven elected positions … for the University of Alabama Student Government Association.
  • March 8 – He stands up for those who can’t stand up for themselves. Saban lobbied for the Jason Flatt Act, which is a bill to help prevent youth suicide.

Saban runs a tight ship in Tuscaloosa, and he knows how to keep people in line. Lane Kiffin would make a great running mate for Saban because he knows how to shut up and do what he’s told. When you’re the vice president to Saban, that’s exactly what you should do.

Georgia Head Coach Kirby Smart

VP: Georgia QB Jacob Eason

Kirby Smart handled the transition from Alabama to Georgia like the champ he is. In December and January, not only was he coaching the Tide defense to another national championship, but he was also recruiting stars for the Bulldogs. And while newcomer Jacob Eason might not be the starter in 2016, you can bet he’s going to quickly grow into a leader for the Bulldogs over the next few years, and he would be the perfect running mate to show off all of Smart’s strengths and skills.

Former Alabama RB Derrick Henry

VP: Former Alabama RB Kenyan Drake

Very few college players have ever had a work ethic that matches that of Derrick Henry. And did you watch the Heisman Trophy presentation? That speech was flawless. Henry has been inspiring people since he was in high school, and he’s destined to keep building on it. Drake is the no-brainer running mate after the job he’s done as Henry’s No. 2 at Alabama.

Ole Miss QB Chad Kelly

VP: Ole Miss Head Coach Hugh Freeze

Chad Kelly’s path to where he is now has not been easy, and it has certainly not been pretty. But he made it. He overcame adversity, and he learned from his mistakes. And now he looks to be the best SEC quarterback in 2016. And according to his teammates, Kelly is a good guy who just wants to serve his team. Hugh Freeze has been saying that all along, and it’s because of his second chances that Kelly was able to get to where he is.
