It’s almost time for SEC football.
One of the final benchmarks each offseason is the release of the preseason All-SEC teams, which are voted on by the league’s head coaches. For 2025, that list was unveiled on Tuesday afternoon — less than 2 weeks before the first SEC game kicks off in late August.
Alabama and Georgia, two of the favorites to win the SEC Championship in 2025, are tied with 11 representatives each from this exercise. The Bulldogs picked up 11 selections in total, but 2 players — Peyton Woodring and Zachariah Branch earned multiple selections.
Texas was not far off as the Longhorns put 10 players on the list. Florida, another potential contender if health this season, came next with 8 players who made the cut. LSU (7), Texas A&M (6), Auburn (6) and Tennessee (6) were the other programs to pick up at least 5 selections.
Perhaps the biggest surprise was LSU quarterback Garrett Nussmeier earning first-team All-SEC honors from the league’s coaches. When the media voted last month, South Carolina quarterback LaNorris Sellers claimed the first-team nod.
