Who showed out on gameday during Week 4 of the SEC season? Here’s a quick glance:
ALABAMA: Blake Sims and Amari Cooper. Where do we start? This combo torched Florida for the most yards — 645 — the Gators have ever given up. Cooper set the school record for touchdown receptions (19) in a career while Sims finished 37 yards short of a single-game passing record with an impressive 445 yards and four touchdowns — the most ever by a Nick Saban-coaching quarterback.
AUBURN: Duke Williams had two big drops in the first half but made up for it for the Tigers with a key 39-yard reception late that sealed the win at Kansas State. Williams finished with a team-best eight receptions for 110 yards and a score.
ARKANSAS: Speedster Korliss Marshall returned the opening kickoff to the house against Northern Illinois and later found the end zone on a 27-yard scamper.
FLORIDA: Safety Keanu Neal was one of the lone bright spots for the Gators and returned a fumble for a 49 yards for a touchdown. The 14-7 advantage in the first quarter was the last time Florida led in the contest.
GEORGIA: True freshman Sony Michel rushed for a career-high 155 yards and three touchdowns after Todd Gurley rested following the first series of a 66-point win over Troy.
LSU: Brandon Harris came in after Anthony Jennings struggled and tossed a pair of touchdown passes to Malachi Dupre to give the Tigers a fighting chance late against Mississippi State.
MISSISSIPPI STATE: Dak Prescott had several Heisman moments against what was the SEC’s best defense, accounting for 373 yards and three touchdowns.
MISSOURI: With a plethora of targets, wideout Bud Sasser caught 11 passes for 142 yards but it wasn’t enough after a late defensive pass interference led to Indiana’s game-winning score in the final 30 seconds.
SOUTH CAROLINA: Senior defensive back Brison Williams stepped in front of a Wade Freebeck third-down pass late in the second quarter and returned it 53 yards to the house to give the Gamecocks a 17-14 lead at intermission.
TEXAS A&M: The Aggies’ defense, which registered a season-high eight sacks, not one by true freshman star Myles Garrett.
VANDERBILT: No player in the country had a better day on special teams than Vanderbilt’s Darrius Sims who became the first player in school history to return two kickoffs for touchdowns in a single game.
