Even with Georgia, Florida, South Carolina and Texas A&M taking the week off, Week 8 was still a lot of fun across the SEC.
LSU won a battle against Mississippi State in Baton Rouge, Alabama dominated Tennessee, Auburn bounced back at Ole Miss and Mizzou put up some serious points on Memphis.
Following Saturday’s action, SEC Network analyst Cole Cubelic hopped on Twitter and shared his thoughts about each of the teams that was in action on Saturday.
See what he thought of the Week 8 action below:
We do it each week. My Sunday SEC takeaways:
ALABAMA: More of the same from best team in the country. Separation between Bama & the pack seems to be extending weekly. DL very disruptive. OL looked good with a change at left guard. The balance is unlike any offense Iโve seen.

AUBURN: A win for that team is big based on last few weeks. Offense showed new wrinkles early. Seemed to try spread defense out before going to the run. Quick pass game is there. Defense got stops when needed, esp red zone. Need that Whitlow. Thought 77 had his best game of the yr

LSU: Win turnover battle. Run the ball. Protect QB. This team has the formula for success that they replicate weekly. Sluggish on offense but found momentum. Great teams find ways to win. Sets up gigantic clash in two weeks. Losing White for 1st half vs Bama is just brutal.

MISSOURI: Nice won vs a quality G5 team. Offense got rolling & didnโt stop. Have a chance to rack up some wins down the stretch.

TENNESSEE: Canโt be one dimensional vs Bama. Protection issues showed up early. Atrocious on 3rd down. Credit Guarantano for sticking in. Need to regroup quick with a trip to Columbia. Bowl still possible.

VANDERBILT: Defense was great for the majority of the game. 2nd & 3rd levels very active. Weather impacted Shurmur a little but protection broke down often. Needed more points off the early turnovers. Left some points out there late. Canโt question the effort Mason gets.

Next week, Alabama and LSU are off ahead of a huge Week 10 showdown, but Florida and Georgia play a marquee game in Jacksonville. Tune in next Sunday to get Cubelic’s thoughts on those games.
