Kentucky is among a strong group of schools to reach out to former Rutgers guard Paul Mulcahy, who pulled his name out of the NBA Draft at the start of June.

Mulcahy is a pass-first guard who plays solid defense and averaged 8.3 points and 5 assists per game last season in Piscataway. He can shoot well from range, averaging a 37% hit rate from beyond the 3-point arc in 2022-23. He’s set to enter his 5th season in college basketball and next season is his final remaining year of eligibility.

Kentucky is one of a number of strong teams to reach out to Mulcahy following the NBA draft deadline. Mulcahy has also heard from the likes of Gonzaga, Kansas, West Virginia, Michigan and Kansas State, to name a few.

It’s important to note that this is not necessarily an offer (though that is what it means sometimes), instead a way to gauge whether or not he would be a good fit for the program.

Kentucky is losing a lot from last season, but also set to welcome one of the better recruiting classes in recent memory. The Wildcats have Four 5-star recruits set to hit the floor next season, including the No. 3, 4 and 6 players in the nation per 247Sports.

Still, adding a veteran guard is never a bad move, especially for depth in a tough league like the SEC.
