Week 7 was the wildest yet of the 2026 college football season, with 5 of the top 7 teams going down. The latest SEC Shorts imagines what that would look like in a “College Football ER.”
After brief glimpses of Notre Dame and Texas, SEC Shorts actually decides to go outside the conference to begin the sketch. Miami is deemed one of the lucky teams, surviving in double overtime against unranked Florida State. ACC replay officials are mocked as wanting to call it a night and rule the controversial final play a Hurricane interception.
Mississippi State is the first SEC squad that the ER team visits. The Bulldogs are told to take it easy on defense next week, which MSU points out shouldn’t be an issue when facing John Mateer and the Oklahoma Sooners.
The Florida-Texas game is tackled next. Arch Manning’s quarterback numbers are attributed to “name prestige only” as the ER professionals ponder what team did this to the Longhorns. It’s revealed that Florida has been in the College Football ER a lot over the past few weeks, both bringing in the teams it defeated (Auburn, Ole Miss, Texas) and being treated for its own losses to Mizzou and South Carolina.
Indiana is brought to the College Football ER, but the Hoosiers are refused treatment after it is shown that their remaining schedule has a difficulty grade of C-.
The controversial finish of the Notre Dame-BYU game is up next for the College Football ER crew. A ref decides to pull the plug on Notre Dame even though there was pass interference in the end zone and 1second remaining on the clock.
Tennessee shows up to take credit for destroying Alabama, handing the Crimson Tide their first back-to-back regular-season losses since 2007. When UA is instructed to drink some liquids, UT promptly drops a cigar in the pitcher, with the Third Saturday in October being a cigar game. Tennessee notes that 2-for-13 on 3rd down and 4 turnovers reads a lot like an obituary.
It is Auburn‘s turn to show up as the College Football ER turns its attention to Georgia. Auburn steals all the toilet paper, since Toomer’s Corner will be rolled. Auburn leaves Georgia in tears with some rivalry trash- talking.
Kentucky is also in the College Football ER, even though the Wildcats won against Oklahoma. UK is advised to get some stress-free wins that don’t affect Big Blue Nation’s heart rate.
The clip ends by noting that this kind of drama won’t be around next year with the move to a 24-team College Football Playoff.
