Shamar Easter, a former Arkansas tight end and the No. 2 overall TE available in the transfer portal according to 247Sports, signed with North Carolina on Wednesday.

Easter will play under former NFL head coach Bill Belichick, who is entering his first season as head coach of the Tar Heels. The former 4-star recruit had heard from several ACC programs but officially made his decision via social media to commit to UNC. Here’s a look at his post:

Easter took a visit to Chapel Hill on Tuesday and committed to the Tar Heels soon after. He’ll have 3 seasons of eligibility remaining, and played sparingly in 2024 by adding just 1 reception for 16 yards.

Out of high school Easter was a 4-star prospect and considered to be the top prospect out of the state of Arkansas. At the same time, Easter was labeled the No. 175 overall prospect and the No. 10 tight end in the country. Standing at 6-5, 223 pounds, Easter was moved to wide receiver by the Razorbacks towards the end of the season.

Easter is one of 2 tight end additions made by UNC this offseason, including former South Carolina tight end Connor Cox.
