Shane Beamer declines to make additional staff changes following Oklahoma loss
Shane Beamer told reporters during a teleconference on Sunday that he isn’t making any more staff changes in the aftermath of Saturday’s ugly 26-7 home loss to Oklahoma.
The South Carolina head coach was asked point blank on Sunday if he had any interest in changes to his staff or with staff responsibilities.
Beamer’s answer was simple: “No.”
Beamer told reporters that everyone on the staff had a hand in “not a good day.”
“I’m gonna get it fixed,” Shane Beamer said.
The Gamecocks fell to 3-4 overall and 1-4 in the SEC with Saturday’s latest loss and the latest poor offensive showing.
“We don’t seek comfort around here and don’t make excuses, but (Saturday) was the perfect storm of what didn’t need to happen, happened,” Beamer told reporters on Sunday.
Beamer’s bold claim on Sunday of not making any more staff changes followed his defensiveness after Saturday’s game about the same subject.
The latest ugly performance by the Gamecocks’ offense on Saturday followed the dismissal of offensive line coach Lonnie Teasley on the previous Sunday. The poor results on offense stayed the same against Oklahoma, but Beamer wasn’t budging when pressed the past few days about making some more changes to shake things up.
It won’t get any easier for Beamer’s team, which hosts No. 4 Alabama next Saturday in a 3:30 p.m. ET kickoff on ABC.
