Shane Beamer gives injury update on Kelby Collins, Gabe Brownlow-Dindy

Shane Beamer and South Carolina have a pivotal game coming up in Week 5 against Kentucky. If the Gamecocks lose that one, they’re 0-3 in the SEC โ and in a season where Beamer promised that his team would challenge for a College Football Playoff spot, at that.
There is some good news on the injury front, though.
During his “Carolina Calls” weekly call-in show on Thursday, Beamer said that Kelby Collins should play against the Wildcats. The linebacker was hospitalized after being poked in the eye against Alabama but appears to be a go for Saturday.
Meanwhile, defensive lineman Gabe Brownlow-Dindy, who missed the Alabama game, is “questionable,” per Beamer, but “trending in the right direction.”
The biggest absence for the Gamecocks, of course, won’t be due to injury. Edge rusher Dylan Stewart found himself in the doghouse for his actions against the Crimson Tide and has been suspended indefinitely. It remains to be seen if he’ll play another down for South Carolina this season, if ever.
Overall, the vibes aren’t good for the Gamecocks as the calendar switches over to October. And if they end up dropping Saturday’s game against the Wildcats, the already vigorous discussions about Beamer’s future with the program will heat up even more.
