South Carolina is now on a 2-game losing streak with a lengthy list of injured players, most notably including star pass rusher Dylan Stewart. However, South Carolina head coach Shame Beamer provided a positive injury update for his roster during his Sunday press conference.

Stewart sustained a hip injury during the 26-7 loss vs. Oklahoma on Saturday. Stewart briefly came back before being ruled out for good. Offensive linemen Cason Henry, Nolan Hay, and Shed Sarratt Jr. each didn’t play against the Sooners due to injuries. Linemen Nick Sharpe, Trovon Baugh, and Tree Babalade all got hurt against Oklahoma with unreported injuries.

“We’ll know more after a day or so; optimistic on all those guys,” Beamer said during his weekly teleconference, via Gamecock Central. “I don’t think anybody’s long-term. We feel optimistic on all those guys that either missed yesterday or left the game yesterday. We’re optimistic on their availability for Saturday.”

The 6-foot-5 Stewart has tallied 13 solo tackles, 3.5 sacks and 2 forced fumbles this season.

South Carolina will need all the help it can get for next week’s matchup vs. visiting No. 4 Alabama. Alabama leads the all-time series 12-4 with back-to-back victories against South Carolina. Alabama at South Carolina is set for 3:30 p.m. ET (ABC).
