Shane Beamer shared some news on recovering defensive line coach Travian Robertson on Tuesday.

Beamer said Robertson had surgery on this week to remove screws from his feet. Beamer was asked on the status of Robertson coming back to the team, and he said he is “optimistic” he could return this season.

“I would hope he’d be back,” Beamer said. “Optimistic.”

Beamer went on to say that Robertson was back at practice on Tuesday, and that he was standing and watching from the balcony.

Robertson suffered the injuries in August as a result of a car accident. He played for South Carolina from 2007-2011 and he has been the program’s defensive line coach since 2023.

Jordan Dove has been filling in for Robertson since he suffered the accident, but there is hope that he will be back soon. For the Gamecocks, they are at a crucial point in the season.

South Carolina hosts Oklahoma on Saturday.
