Shane Beamer and South Carolina are in a much better state than they were even a month ago. The Gamecocks’ three-game winning streak has evened their record to 3-3 in SEC play and has them at No. 21 in the College Football Playoff Top 25.
On top of that, the Gamecocks are getting healthy.
Per The Post and Courier’s David Cloninger, Beamer, during his “Carolina Calls” radio show on Thursday evening, revealed that both defensive back Quay’Sheed Scott and wide receiver Donovan Murph would be ready to go for South Carolina’s Week 10 game against Texas A&M. Scott has nine tackles in five games but hasn’t seen the field since October 3’s loss to Kentucky. Murph, who has 11 catches for 205 yards and three touchdowns in eight games, was listed as questionable on Wednesday’s initial availability report.
Meanwhile, the Gamecocks won’t have safety J’Zavien Currence or defensive lineman Jordan Thomas. Both “should be good for next week,” Shane Beamer said.
One major injury previously reported is running back Matt Fuller. Fuller, who had 530 yards and five touchdowns on the ground — plus 18 catches for 130 yards and a touchdown through the air — is likely done for the year with a lower leg injury suffered against Oklahoma.
Offensive lineman Dayne Arnett, who was hospitalized the week of the Oklahoma game, is out but “should be able to practice next week,” according to Beamer. Fellow OL Seth Smith is out, too.
